Walking the Camino when you’re overweight
This question comes up quite often- can I walk the Camino if I’m overweight or not in the best physical shape? And the answer is- DEFINITELY! I can’t tell you how many people I’ve seen walking the Camino of all shapes, sizes and physical abilities. You won’t be looked at funny, no one will judge your size or pace, and people respect each other and their journeys. Most travelers aren’t in the best shape or aren’t accustomed to walking long distances each day, and that’s ok. Everyone sets their own walking tempo and they arrive when they arrive.

What is a typical day on the Camino?
Even though the Camino seems simple enough, no one really talks about what a typical day looks like. I’m frequently asked- is it just walking?- and while it is mostly walking, I think it’s important to understand that this is more than a hike or walking trip.
The journey that travelers take while walking the Camino is spiritual and meaningful and so much fun.
Are you physically ready to walk the Camino?
We get asked this question a lot! And for good reason, as the Camino itself can be remote and not easy to “get off” of in the middle of a stage. But that being said, the Camino is accessible for all ages and all fitness levels. The last 100 km of the French Camino are by far the easiest, as you’re not crossing the Pyrenees and the uphills and distances are manageable.
