El Camino is surrounded by an aura of legends and tales of miracles that have been preserved through the ages and reached our present day. One of them occurred in 844A.D., a few years after St. James tomb’s discovery, he is said to appear on a white horse and lead Christian resistance forces to victory at the battle of Clavijo, a turning point in the resistance efforts to drive the invader troops from Spain. This and other signs have been collected and are now part of the ancient history of el Camino.
